Born June 10th, 1973 in Coyoacan, Mexico City, Angel Luis Novoa Suarez was destined to play an instrument, his mother Lidia Suarez gave him a litle piano with just two octaves, it was his first encounter with a musical instrument. (In the next picture Lidias Suárez Graduation and Novoa in blue shirt).
Novoa started singin and telling poems at around the age of ten participating in school contests and winning some awards, and soon also taught himself to play guitar. Jesus Novoa his uncle gave him the first guitar lessons. His musical inspirations were by such talents as: Bob Dylan's, George Harrison, Frederic Bulzara, Creadence and others. He did not lose oportunity in familiar and social events to improvising.
After he graduated primary school he was happy cause music was a signature, there kneew his teacher Alma and it was not enougth with flute an voice lessons. Novoa saw an abandoned Double-bass in te corner and beggins playing without any problem. Since that moment he always be part of musical proyects, the musical school group sound diferent wit the Double-bass, making an excelente contrast with mandolins, guitars an percutions, he never lose a recital or event, besides he always was tunning instruments and suporting his teacher.
About this time Luis Says: “I’ll never forget Alma..s class, she is my Angel of Music, i must to be honest, i felt in love with her... How to forget her at the piano playing and singuing Abba, Mocedades, Serrat... ? She always to bear in mind me. I remember in ocations she asked my fathers permision to asist to Out-of-school events. The firs time i visit her house i saw that white piano in her leavingroom, till today i have that scene in mind, blessings Alma wherever you are...”
When he finishes highschool made his first rock band “Florida Pop”, Student's Day was the fist time Novoa present his band there in the same place he had learned musical theory and auditory development from Alma. Three boys in the stage... Erick in drums, Jorge Basurto Guevara Bass and Luis Novoa playing the guitar and singing.
In Basurto Gevara words: “It was rainning, one amp blows, we were of foot on bricks, there where thousands of students, they encore and ask for more... we played three times the last song “El Final” and “Negra Tomasa, besides we recived our first salary, much money for three beginner teenegers”.
In 1985 Novoa took part of a band called “The Blue Jeans” playing guitar “My sweet lord”, “Love Me Two Times”, “Gloria”, “Stormy”, “Roadhouse Blues” was part of their repertory.
Felix the bas guitar of Blue Jeans says: "This proyect was important we played every weekend in a great auditorium or wherever we could duringr years. Luis Novoa was there by my side playing his white Ibanez guitar and singuing the songs".
Novoa never left music, but he continues studing, Preparatory and then International Relationships and Foreing Trade, an a postdegree in International Affairs at Universidad del Valle de Mexico.
He had work in private and public sector. He founded an universitary publication with general topics called “Gaceta Unimex”, then in 1997 won scolarship and become member of “Telmex Fundation”, he made profesional practices in “Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores” specifically in the oficce of Disarmament Maters and Human Rigths of United Nations (ONU). Then in Ligth and Power Company. In the private sector, he worked for ACCEL Logistics, American Brithis Hospital (ABC) and Johnson & Johnson.
2000 he starts another muscical proyect with an old friend, they took every weekend to practice and play in Duet. In the beginnig they start playing their own versions of covers... “The Cure”, “Depeche Mode” “Midnigth Oil”, “Gene Loves Jezebel”, “Soul Asylum”, “The Mission UK”, “Peter Murphy”, “Patty Smith”, “Alpha Ville”, “Human Drama” and many others.
They asist together many concerts and developed a new stile to make covers. Then formed “Verso Negro” Novoa invites again to Jorge Basurto his higschool patner to de new proyect and playing on weekends in nearby coffee houses, theatres, particular events and pubs.
2006 Leader Voice and Guitar of Verso Negro, Antidoto's Writter and Bass Guitar Luis Menchaca and Mike Leoni fusion their creativity talents to get a brand new musical encounter. It was necesary to them to make their own music. They are searching today for new sounds combinating notes, ritms, sounds and soul.
Luis Novoa and Luis have a peculiar concept about music, he says:
"Vivo de sonidos, sonando y partiendo almas por las notas que me liberan. Por que la musica es el sue?o eterno que me nutre y es tambien la masturbacion del alma".
