About me:
A refugee from a lost country, evacuated, who simply had no choice but to try to start and build a life anew.
Along the way, I've struggled and fought against prejudice, racism, politics and mysoginism from those around me. I've been beaten, physically and verbally abused and humiliated more times than I can remember. In the past, I've been both a playboy's eye candy and his cuntpig. It wasn't nice and it wasn't sexy.
The Utherverse has been no different. I rise above it all.
Emotional, fragile, I try to keep everything together, and as I go, finding simple beauty in the world and things that I come across on my journey. I love to make people happy, to inspire them to enjoy, to have fun, in everything that they do.

Enjoy the music on my profile, brought to you via CinnaStream. I'm sorry that its not always to one genre or one mind - I'm not easily put into a "category". I decided long ago that I would play what I want to play, when I want to, and to hell with the street cred. Years of musical training means that it is sometimes a little eclectic in taste, but don't worry, it changes all the time, so it might be better for the listener next time around. Better that than be boring!

A PERSONAL REFLECTION FROM A CLUB OWNER
Of all the tracks I hear there is one that pierces my heart every time: Luke Bond vs Cartel - Once More (Radio Edit). I started Cinnabar with this song. Its one of a few very special ones to me and the club, started... ended and came back to life with the same one. A year later, the memories it brings... even now I can still remember sitting there in the club alone at the beginning of May, 30 mins before it opened for the first time. I was trying to fire myself up, wondering if actually anyone would turn up, listening to this song. I had wondered if it would actually work, or just die, like so many other places. With hindsight I needn't have worried. The number of people that have visited Cinnabar's events is as above - it is constantly updated, and is a visitor count, not visits (the visit number is higher) - but its the size of a town and still growing. I can remember the early parties - with this song. Our trance maestro John Stone plays it regularly - he played it on Launch night too- and the memories come flooding back fast, every time. The tears, too.
Tears, because there are so many good things that Cinnabar has done for everyone, and in such a short period of time. I can remember it started even on Launch day when someone had a close relative that passed literally two hours before, that same day, they came in initially numb and lost - but came. That reason alone makes me cry, and makes it worth it, but I'll continue... I can remember when people came that were terminally ill, or in the throes of chemo or radiotherapy, and when people came that were abused, physically and mentally. People that are clinically depressed have come. People that are physically or mentally disabled have come. I can remember so many times when people came, at the point of collapse, suicidal almost, numbly sitting there, like zombies - like so many often are in other clubs.
I remember how they were as they came, but then I remember what they were like when they left. Smiling. Energised. Happy. Motivated. Inspired. The vibe and energy that came from that little pink room and morphed into what it has become has put a lot of light into a lot of lives, and really, its a beautiful thing. I post in purple "all we ask for, is a smile" and that's all we aim to do - it isn't run as a business, a fundraiser or a promotional venue, Cinnabar is truly independent. We are all one world in Cinnabar, and that's a lot of smiles. Our parties are legendary now. I'm pretty passionate about this - yes I'm also a bit of a cynical little bitch sometimes, sometimes out of so much frustration from failings I see elsewhere, but I can't give it up and I'll defend it to the hilt. Not because it has big parties, not because its good - even though it is (so everyone keeps telling me) - but for what it does for people. With its expansion, a little love can go further. When competitors attack I'll take it personally - because they aren't slapping the club - they're actually slapping what it stands for and what it has done for people - in effect those people themselves. I may not always be able to engage in local - the multitasking often gets pretty intense - but I can see it, and I see the results. The lines:

The lyrics have a meaning for those that struggle, that try to endure. It inspires, it motivates, it refreshes and regenerates. And so yes, with the knowledge of understanding what is happening I really have sat here and cried so many times, because I can appreciate the bigger picture, uniquely created, the joy in the team and those that turn up, and how collectively all these things combined make things so much better, in so many ways, for so many people.

OUR IN HOUSE DANCE TEAM - THE KATZ
Born from the ashes of a former dance team whose owner conceitedly thought he was bigger than the club itself, and tried to take over before bullying, threatening, and then trying to blackmail me as club owner (thanks Fallen Angels!), and inspired (an idea by one of the DJs ErikD, to whom I am eternally grateful) by the tongue in cheek visuals I sometimes put on screen in the club venues, these are the Katz. The name partially inspired by my own (yes, I'm Kat), they are "Kat's". The Katz today are staff that support and keep the vibe going in the clubs, and they are all awesome in their own individual ways. Although I sometimes let them out as a favour in exceptional circumstances, they will always be part of Cinnabar. Love them to bits.
